Insha Fitzpatrick’s book is an excellent introduction to the world of horror and ghost stories. What I like the most is how the author divides the book into chapters and makes it easy to navigate. “Ghosting 101” gives you quick and important information, teaches you how to spot a ghost, understands the different types of ghosts, and lists the top 10 signs you might be haunted.

The guide is not limited to one type of ghost story. It ranges from the classic Baileys: Ghosts Don’t Eat Potato Chips to the timeless legend of Sleepy Hollow. Whether you enjoy classic or modern medieval stories, this book is for anyone looking to expand their reading list. What sets this guide apart is that each chapter includes crafts, food, and activities. There are all kinds of fun projects, from creating a Ghost toolkit to building your own house. A highlight is the Ghost Story game, which offers a fun and interactive way to create spooky short stories, perfect for classroom activities around Halloween.

As a casual reader who loves horror but doesn’t consider myself a horror expert, I enjoyed this guide. A variety of ghost facts, holidays and superstitions from around the world combine to add an interesting layer. The illustrations demonstrate the diversity of fantasy and visual language. However, as the guide mainly focuses on places that are popular and well-known in the media, we wish there were more examples from countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

Humor is woven throughout the guide, with many references to pop culture from the past to the present. Although we have limited ourselves to the more popular areas, this guide is an excellent starting point for further exploration of the paranormal. We look forward to our next paranormal fact guide exploring witches and expanding our cultural reach.
